今日は昔懐かしい子供の頃に読んだ絵本を紹介します。(English) Today I would like to introduce you to an old-fashioned childhood picture book.

What is the synopsis of "Daruma-chan to Tengu-chan"?

1)

Daruma-chan to Tengu-chan is a picture book published by picture book author Satoshi Kako in 1967.

2)

Synopsis.

There was a little Daruma-chan and a little Tengu-chan.

Daruma-chan saw the fan in Tengu-chan's hand and said, "That's a nice thing."

When he returned home, he said, "I want a fan like Tengu-chan's."

The big Daruma brought out many fans, but then he said, "I don't want a fan like this one," and he came up with a good idea.

3)

When Tengu-chan saw Daruma-chan's fan made from a lamprey leaf, he praised it.

However, Daruma-chan was now curious about the hat.

He went home and asked for a hat.

Then the big Daruma-chan brought out many hats again.

But then he said, "This is not the kind of hat I want," and came up with a good idea.

4)

When Tengu-chan saw Daruma-chan's bowl-covered hat, she praised it.

However, Daruma-chan was now concerned about his footwear.

He went home and asked the big Daruma to bring out his footwear, but he came up with a good idea:" That's not what I want."

5)

Daruma tied the chopping board of his toy with a string.

When he was praised, a dragonfly perched on the tip of Tengu-chan's long nose(=Hana).

When he returned home, he said to the big Daruma: "Tengu-chan has a lovely nose!"

He asked for a 'Hana,' which could be any color, even if dragonflies and butterflies perched on it, like Tengu-chan got a red one.

6)

The big daruma then arranged various long, red flowers(Hana).

He said, "Not the flowers (Hana) that are blooming, but the nose (Hana) on my face!"

The big Daruma said, "Sorry, sorry," and made a long nose (Hana) out of a rice cake.

7)

When he showed the nose to Tengu-chan, a sparrow flew in and perched on it.

The sparrow stopped on your nose; "That's the best nose I've ever seen!" And they smiled and played nicely together.

8)

What age range is the book for?

The book says that it is suitable for children from the age of three if you want to read it to them, and for primary school students at the beginning level if you're going to read it yourself.

9)

What do you think?

8-year-old.

Interestingly, he mistook nose (Hana) for flower (Hana).

As a parent, I found the part about the development of mistaking the nose for the flower very interesting to read.

The children's reactions were surprisingly light when I was reading the book.

10)

The children did not seem to have expected to be mistaken for flowers in the red "Hana"' exchange part and seemed surprised.

They needed a little time to digest, so they mistook the nose (Hana) for a flower (Hana).

After a little while, the two-year-old and the four-year-old started grinning, so they seemed to understand.

11)

The part about wanting other people's things often overlaps with my childhood.

We often say, "other people's things!"

There is a scene where Daruma-chan goes home two or three times and says the line "Like Tengu-chan..."

When the parents read it, the children covered their ears with laughter.

12)

Why does Satoshi Kako draw many types of hats, shoes, etc.?

It's because 'during the war, there was no choice, so I want the children to find what they like best from the many options.

This thought comes from Kako's experience of living through the war.

The message for those of us living today is how wonderful it is to be able to choose things.
